snow day!

The night before- it was really coming down.

Getting ready for my walk.  We walked by Rhodes, the cafe for some doughnuts, and of course the Foxes' house.

tuckered out from the playing and eating.

We're getting ready for a new workplace and daycare this coming week!  We are excited for the new opportunity, and a little sad to live University Hospital and the LEAD program at LeBonheur.  Lots of new things starting in March...

Birmingham Birthday Party- Happy Valentine's day, too!

I know, it's obnoxious to have 2 birthday parties. But HEY, you only turn one once. I guess you can say that about every birthday, but trust me, there won't be two every year. We were just so darn excited about the first birthday, we couldn't help ourselves! Obviously, Fletch is having a good time with his grandparents. Thanks for a lovely time, friends and family- I'm going to try and include a link to our photo-sharing webiste. We're trying out Picasa, so if you want an extensive review in photo, it's all yours! Check over on the right side, list of links). Some good ones of the kids partying. What sweet children my friends and family have, that came to celebrate with us, too. We missed you Cordells!
I think Kylie had her shades on for the whole party.

I love you, Le Le! When are you coming to stay with me?

Thanks for hosting the birthday party Chief and Frannie! And thanks for babysitting for our first trip without Fletch (Chattanooga!). It was nice to have uninterrupted conversation for a couple of days, eat some quiet meals, go to a movie, take a nap, and visit with some old friends (thanks Erin, Brooke, and co!) Couldn't have done it without y'all... We sure did miss that litte guy while we were gone. Some of that interrupted conversation was about the interrupter himself.

I'm One!

And I had a heck of a time with that cake! More pics to come, but just to give you an idea of a one year old with red icing...

Everyone asks if this year has just flown by. Which I imagine it will feel like this when 2, 3, 4, etc. rolls around. But this year has not flown by. It seems like 10 years ago, that we met this little guy and were bringing him home from the hospital. Maybe because so much has changed in a year- we've become parents; he's become a toddler.

And everyone also reminds us to enjoy this- that it goes so quickly, and I totally agree with that advice. I think that we really have enjoyed every minute of it- there have been very few moments of total frustration and fatigue, when I compare them to the joyful, hilarious, beautiful moments of Fletch's life. (now ask me that question again when toddlerhood rolls around). I don't often get sentimental on the blog (it is mostly pictures, after all), but today I am feeling VERY nostalgic- this time of year is really bringing out my sensitive side!

We are blessed to have you all. And so glad to share Fletch with you.

Mom, dad, we need to have a talk.

So I was thinking, since I'm one year old, I think it's time I get to eat some cake. You know what I mean- smash it around and all.

Can do, my son. There's an elmo cake with your name on it- all yours tomorrow night. Red icing I believe! (Pictures to follow.)

Happy Birthday my sweet boy!

the post christmas crash

So, the only pictures I can upload right now, are the ones sent to me via email. And we got a couple of good ones from Gaines family Christmas. Fletch was quite impressed by Kylie's rocking horse. Kylie, on the other hand, was not so enthusiastic about this idea...

Nobody can get a baby to sleep quite like Papa. And often, he gets rocked to sleep himself...
